TRAGEDY BECAME EYE OPENER

Priscah was eighteen years old when she met Rionel. She had just received her admission letter to Dreamview university, the place she had all along dreamt to be. It was one of the days she was busy browsing to learn more about this so-called university when a message hit her messenger,” Hello Priscah, it’s been long hoping to share with you. Kindly WhatsApp me on this number 07…”
“University is a place where no one cares whatever you do, wherever you go, not whoever you spend your time with. Freedom is guaranteed and so no one would ever question. You need just compose your life as you wish to. Look here, once you have moved away from your parents who keep on spying on you, is there anything that you can’t do? I feel I should do something. I should not let such a beautiful and determined lady get lured by those “dogs ” in the university. I’m sure they are waiting for you but I won’t allow. Listen Priscah, you don’t need a parent to accompany you for admission. I will do it. I will find a house fit enough for you. I will purchase all that you need for admission, whatever your parents will afford you can keep as the pocket. I will be visiting you every weekend and be sure we always shall have a good time. “It was one of the days before Priscah joined campus, a meeting that awarded Priscah a thorough beating which in a few weeks time led to her being admitted in the hospital.
Was it the first and last meeting? Who knew what was tied and untied in that meeting except for Priscah? Who would punish Priscah any more once she joined the university? Who would spy on her any more? Who would ever question her either? If she spent a night away from her place of stay, who would ever report her?
“Priscah, you have now stayed in the campus for a month. Every one of your friends is doing it. You must admit putting aside your salvation and face life in reality. You can’t provide everything for yourself nor can your parents do it. See, I’m offering to do everything, I mean everything and you know I can’t do so for free. Or what are you afraid of? If your greatest fear is getting pregnant, no one would ever notice. I shall take care of that, right? You know I love you. Priscah I love you and you can’t just deny me this chance. “This was one of the days when Priscah let go one of the CATs just to meet Rionel.little did she know that in four months time she would be denied the chance to sit for her main examination due to missing marks. She had to repeat a year. Yes, otherwise how could she “view her dreams ” without obeying?
“Priscah, how I wish you knew how troublesome you have been. I request you to meet me, you say you have a class. Don’t you know that as you take care of your studies you too should take care of me? I mean you are so unkind! The fact that you’re pregnant can’t just force me to cling to you. I mean I’m tired of you. You go look for a man who matches your childish nature! Besides, I have offered enough to take care of you and that unborn creature! Bye…. This was just a year after Priscah had been admitted to the university. Rionel did it. Denied her.
“Priscah, our dearest daughter and the hope of the family, we are taking you to university not because we are able but because God is able. Once you’re, never forget what took there. Never forget what you want in the end. Above all, remember the Lord your creator in your youth bearing in mind that the days are evil. Never trust anyone that you don’t know. We know you’re a lady and men will approach you. Our dearest daughter, all that glitters is not gold. You can’t love a person whose background you haven’t any idea. A man that loves you will let you known to every esteemed and important people in their family. He will be proud of you and can never take you to bed before marriage. May the Lord be with you “
These words hit Priscah so hard that she counted herself an outcast. She was walking on a busy road and almost lost her senses. It was her mother’s last words before she left home for admission. A fast moving car hit her from behind. Well, she survived the accident although the unborn didn’t. She couldn’t help narrating this story to the church as she resolved to take back her salvation from where she kept that very day. Tragedies became an eye-opener.
Lessons:
1.integrity is very vital in decision making. It calls you to do the right thing when no one is watching. Your parents may keep on spying on you but they won’t make it once away from them.
2. Money can never buy love. If he loves you he should be patient. Otherwise, he is only after that which sends him leaving without looking back once he has achieved it.
3.know what you want and go for it. Had Priscah remembered that her greatest fear ought to be doing the wrong thing and sin against God, she wouldn’t have given in to Rionel.
4. Just because everyone is doing it, doesn’t call for you to do it. You are you but not them.
5. There is a difference between academic life and social life. Everything has got its own time. I repeat, there is time for everything. Let not the fear of losing lead you to lose your life course. First things first! Your academics is very essential.
6. A believer can never be tied to a non -believer. If they prompt you to put your salvation aside, put them aside instead.
